Matt Davis

Chairman of the Board, Vice President of Business Development

Matt Davis has spent most of his career in the body armor industry and is the founder of Armor Express, one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of protective solutions for Domestic and Federal law enforcement, the U.S. Armed Services and international law enforcement agencies. Since the Company’s founding in 2005, Matt has been intricately involved in all business operations, setting the creative vision for the Company, recruiting and building the leadership team, and overseeing sales, marketing, finance and product development, while spearheading business development initiatives.

Before starting Armor Express, Matt held a number of leadership positions with Second Chance Body Armor (SCBA), a company founded by his family. He started as International Product Manager, supporting sales, product development, and production activities. He subsequently became National Sales Manager, overseeing all North American law enforcement sales activities and both the sales team and dealer network; and then assumed the role of Group Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where we managed more than $85 million in sales of personal protective armor products and accessories to Domestic Law Enforcement, the U.S. Military and more than 80 countries worldwide.

His passion for producing life-saving body armor is second to none, as he grew up in the industry. As such, he’s applied his early learnings to his professional life and is one of the rare executives who can develop, design, produce, market and sell, while building the supply chain ecosystem to ensure end-products are of the highest quality. He has extensive knowledge of ballistic materials, including aramids and composites, as well as the latest innovations both within and outside of the industry, and constantly works with technology innovators to bring the best and safest products to market.

Matt holds a B.A. in Finance from Michigan State University, Eli Broad College of Business and earned his Master’s in Government Contracting from George Washington University. As a man who constantly strives for excellence, he has also received training in the areas of Global Finance from Grand Valley State University; Pricing Strategies and Tactics and Strategic Sales Management from Michigan State University; and Lean Manufacturing from Northwest Michigan College. He is a member of the United States Practical Shooting Association, National Rifle Association, Traverse Area Lean Learning Consortium, and Toastmaster’s International.
