Rick Rardon

Director of Carrier Research & Development

As Director of Carrier R&D, Rick leads all non-ballistic product development efforts, including the design, material sourcing and implementation of new technologies, while collaborating with Sales and Marketing to develop innovative concealable, overt and tactical carriers and related nylon accessories.

As a Reconnaissance Marine Veteran, Rick brings a wealth of military and product design knowledge to Armor Express. With over two decades of product design experience, he has continued to advance armor designs, particularly as it relates to tactical nylon design, based on the training and real-world experiences gained during his multiple deployments overseas. Throughout the years, he has amassed relationships with nylon suppliers, fabric companies, and technology leaders, which has enabled him to source the highest quality materials, while applying the most innovative technologies in production design. Further, he takes into account manufacturing processes and ballistic systems at the earliest stage of product conception, to ensure end-products can be produced by leveraging Lean methodologies and can be developed as a “life-saving system”.

Prior to joining Armor Express, Rick was the Director of Operations and Chief Designer at PG USA; Chief Designer at Mountain Defense Group; and Armor Design Manager at Propper International. In these respective roles, he oversaw management of the production/factory floor and Lean manufacturing processes. He also led OEM development and directed product design for several government contracts. He has been heavily involved in R&D – building armor design shops, helping companies develop their lines of ballistic carriers and working with vendors to implement their technologies.

Rick holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Arizona State University and an Associate’s Degree from ITT Technical Institute – School of Drafting and Design.
